On our way!
With about one month left before our trip to Ethiopia, Nick and I are getting increasingly excited and anxious and CANNOT wait to see Dag. We leave July 17 (returning July 30) for Dubai where we'll stay for a couple days before heading to Ethiopia. I purchased our Emirates plane tickets last Friday...which was an adventure in itself. Depending on where you live, you can pay for tickets a couple ways...online (w/ no immediate seat assignment), wire transfer, your local Emirates office or at the airport. I opted for the airport because I wanted to make sure to get seat assignments that day! We're lucky because San Francisco has one non-stop flight per day going to Dubai and Addis. When I got to the airport, I had to wait until all the folks heading to the World Cup were helped. So much happy energy in the air for those folks heading the South Africa. I don't usually watch soccer but feel obligated to participate this year....starting with US vs. England yesterday. Go USA.
Our adoption agency has also arranged our visit to the town where Dag was found and the Bete Hitsanet orphanage where he was placed for three weeks. We'll be traveling with another family who's daughter was also abandoned and placed at Bete Hitsanet. Our hope is to learn a little bit more from the police officer who found Dag. Apparently, it's not uncommon to learn more from the orphanage.
