Becky and I took a cab to see the Ethnological Museum (in what was once emperor Hale Selasse's palace) at the Addis Ababa University. I learned more about Ethiopia at this museum then all the Ethiopian books I read...wonderful place. The staircase out front was built by the Italians as a symbol of Fascist domination with one step for each year Mussolini held power. The "Lion of Judah" on top was placed there as a monument to Ethiopia's independence from Italy. We also visited the Trinity Orthodox Church up the street from our guesthouse.

Tuesday was our Embassy appointment. We spent the morning getting ready and then loaded in the vans for the last leg our trip. It was POURING rain outside and cold. When we got to the embassy, it was a mad dash to the door - we all got drenched. Inside each family waited patiently for their name to be called. Finally, it was our turn to go upstairs to be interviewed by a member of the Foreign Service. When we were done, the officer handed us Lucas' passport and US citizen papers. What an amazing day!!! After, we celebrated at the "Blue Drop" Italian restaurant across the street from the guesthouse.

On Wednesday, several WACAP families gathered at the TDS Guesthouse to learn how to make traditional Ethiopian food. Zufan, who works at the TDS house was our guide. She spent her afternoon teaching us how to make this special food. YUM!!!
